Continuing the discussion from https://www.geni.com/discussions/283524?msg=1723498 with Amanda Torrey (Moyer) who descends from Dorothy Moye and John Moye, Sr.
Amanda Torrey (Moyer) is Dorothy (Wheeler) Moye's 8th great granddaughter.
My first caveat is that I know nothing about this family except what I read on Geni profiles. So please, add to the geni profile "about", including uploading documents.
To recap:
From Book: "Some Emigrants to Virginia" by
Author: W. G. Stanard
Call Number: 929.1 S78.1 Genealogy Library.com
This book lists emigrants to Virginia
Bibliographic Information: Stanard, W. G. Some Emigrants to Virginia. The Bell Book and Stationary Company: Richmond Virginia,1911.
MOYE, JOHN (d. 1645), Lower Norfolk county; married a daughter of Richard Wheeler, citizen and Innholder, of London. V. M., XIII, 407. N. Y. Gen. & Biog. Record, XL, 86.[1]
However, we learned that this Richard Wheeler was not the same person as Richard Wheeler, of Cranfield and his wife Elizabeth. This man was not of London and did not have a daughter called Dorothy. See https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/MW4B-ZC4.
To complicate matters, there is a marriage record:
Dorothye Dawson (Moye) England Marriages, 1538-1973 Marriage: Jan 30 1628 - Ludham, Norfolk, England Husband: John Moye
Which would explain the birth date & location seen in her profile, but does not fit the "traditional" story of them marrying in 1637 just before emigrating to Virginia.
As of 2004, attempts to locate records for John Moye and Dorothy Wheeler, daughter of a Richard Wheeler, seems to have failed, despite hiring genealogists in England.

Gloria: None of the leads I followed up proved positive.I searched myself in London and hired professional researchers in London, Worcester and Ipswich but no one was able to identify either John Moye or Dorothy's Wheeler family.Next step is to search in Ireland as there is a suspicion that John Moy/Moye may have originated there.
