I'm new to Geni, but I've been doing genealogy 30+ years. I looked at your tree, but there is a dearth of information. The only name available is that of your maternal grandfather, with no other information that i could see (DOB, POB, etc.) If you expect help, you've gotta put out more information to give us some place to start.
Do you know the town wheee your Mother's parents were born ? If not, perhaps a sibling or aunt or uncle might know.
Realistically speaking, for anyone going on GENI and asking if someone knew anything about their MOTHER'S grandparents looks like a very long odds proposition. Do a little honework and locate your parents home towns, and maybe you can find the grandparent (as youngsters residing with their parents in the 1930 US CENSUS.. LOOK ON FINDAGRAVE for other people with the sane surname in that town. If you thiink the Grandparents
moved to that town, they may not have moved alone. Often people move in groups (of acquaintances if not friends) because of job opportunities. They tend to remain close to those folks (often with whom they work) from the old home town, for decades after they move to the new town. Do your relatives know of folks with whom thd grandparents had such friendship. That helps find the path to the prior town sometimes. Death certificates often give both the NAMES of parents of the deceased and place of birth. Your MOTHER'S parents DEATH CERTIFICATES probably have the nanes of respective grandparents of your Mother. I recognize it might cost a couple dollars to request a copy of your MOTHER'S parent's DEATH CERTIFICATE from the State of her death, but it's a place to start if you want factual information. 🤔
A place I look for info is https://www.wikitree.com/
They have a single family tree that others add information to, so that might just give you some information if somebody has added information about your family or relatives.
Hi Shad,
Have you done the ancestry.com DNA test and account? If you have doing the genetic genealogy research can quite possibly find your answer. I was able to find who my mom's biological grandfather was even though he was not who was said to be my great grandfather. It took awhile but the told have improved in the last few years. Building a good tree will be crucial. Also if your mom had a brother, he or his son could take a ydna test. Very helpful. I didn't have that ability and I still cracked my case, and I've helped a few of my 2nd and 3rd cousins on similar quests, so I think it's worth the effort. Let me and the rest of the group know if you join ancestry and maybe you can get some help getting started.
Good luck!
Tracie
I'm also from Ohio and have some Brown's in my family tree : )
LoL I looked at if we are connected... This is the most confusing connection I've seen so far doing my tree but this is what it says:
Shad Brown Jr. is Susan Eisenman's second cousin four times removed's husband's great aunt's husband's nephew's wife's 6th great nephew!
LoL 🤷🏼
You should try to compare other sites family trees like family search is free I think it's the one that's made by the Mormons but it's free and I've noticed that various websites have different information. To see if you can figure it out I'm having a trouble figuring out anybody on my grandpa's side. By the way are you black? Cuz I saw the connection it said you're descending from the Sheftall's and there's a whole historic living museum thing of the black Shefftal side and the White Shefftal side... My family our ancestors of the white Sheftall's those who are Jewish. But I thought the name sounded possibly black when I looked at the connection we have.
My own son is biracial. Anyway that would be cool if you and I are descendants of both sides. I can try to find the article it was about these women in a black woman and a white woman that reenact the two sides of the family history I think it's in Georgia.
