Sarah's birth, baptismal and marriage dates are documented by the family bible, the records of First Church, Huntington, L.I., and her approved application for a widow's pension for Jacob's service in the Revolutionary War. She was indeed married at the age of 15 in March,1784, turned 16 the following August and gave birth to her first child, Zebulon, the following January.
