Hi,

I am the great great great grand-daughter of James Wesley Johnson. I am currently working on my family tree and came across this site. Lela Johnson is James's second wife (his first wife was Martha Ann Holland). I found the following information that I thought I would share with you from some other sites that I use for research.

Lela A Johnson (born Sweat)
Born December 10, 1883 Ware, Georgia
Married James W Johnson February 10, 1898 Ware, Georgia
Died January 19, 1901 Waycross, Ware, Georgia

James Wesley Johnson
Born February 1861 Georgia
Married 1st wife: Martha Ann Holland April 8, 1883 Thomas, Georgia
Children: Jonas Johnson Jr, John W Johnson, James F Johnson, Christopher C Johnson, Betty M Johnson, Louisa Johnson
Died August 8,1939 Pelham, Grady, Georgia (78 years old)

Hope this helps with your own research.

Thanks!

Donna Johnson

Thanks for contacting me! I did some more research and there are actually 2 James W Johnsons. Your is James W Johnson 1861-1939 who married Martha Holland. He is the son of John Wesley Johnson and Louisa Wallace per his death certificate. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/9MB9-MCR and https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/30128034/james-w-johnson

Notes on his findagrave profile indicated that Lela Sweat was nor his wife so I re-checked and found that that there are 2 men with same name. The findagrave for Lela indicates her husband was born c1867 with an unknown death date. He kind of disappears after the 1920 census.

My James W Johnson is the son of Samuel Duncan Johnson and Rhoda Edenfield. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LR9F-NWP - I am will be rechecking the Geni profiles for both James W. Johnson and documenting both. FamilySearch has documentation for both, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

I was just going to write you back and say I think there were 2 of them HAHA. The death dates are the same so I think it was probably confused in the recording of the information.

Thanks for responding! There is so much information to go through!

Have a great day!

Donna Johnson
