I have been working on family tree and have come across two different people named as the mother of Phillip Philemon Howell. Sophia Magdalena Schmid who was born and died in Germany and Sarah Parker who was born and died in North Carolina. I am trying to verify through records which one is correct. I did not see where John Howell (Phillip's father) travelled to Germany so not sure how he and Sophia would have met? Was Sophia living in the US at any time? Did John actually go to Germany? Anyone have any records they could provide verifying the mother of Phillip? TYIA
