Abner Elsberry Casey, Sr.
I posted this once but will post again here. My explanation of the misunderstanding about busband of Elizabeth Bowen. Also the information on Find A Grave Memorial for Abner Casey is being corrected. Mike Casey (descendant Turner Casey son of Abner Casey and Elizabeth Boen) maintains that Memorial indicated he was only passing on (in his notes) information that someone sent in their edit request. He did not change the the actual information. He hopes to have the Memorial updated this week.
I researched the information and here is my explanation.
The Abner Casey (1786-after 1860) who was in Marshall County, Kentucky in 1850 and 1860 and married Elizabeth Riley 17 January 1814 is not the Abner Casey who died in Newton County, Arkansas in 1869 and is buried in Buffalo Cemetery.
The Marshall County, Kentucky Abner Casey was on the Kentucky census in 1850 and 1860 (Listed under name A Casey in 1860). In 1850 Abner Casey was enumerated in Marshall County, Kentucky with wife Elizabeth and children Henry age 17, Abner 15 and Willis age 12. On 1860 Marshall County, Kentucky census Abner’s wife is not listed so she has evidently died. There are 2 children shown in his household: H. J. Casey age 26 and A Casey age 24. No further information on Marshall County, Kentucky Abner Casey after 1860. Additional information available for his children Henry J. Casey (1833-after 1880) and Abner Casey (1835-1914)
The Newton County, Arkansas Abner Casey (1786-1869) is listed in the 1850 and 1860 census in Newton County, Arkansas census with his wife Elizabeth Bowen and is the subject of this Geni profile. Abner Casey is found first in Tennessee on the Roane County 1814 and 1815 Tax Rolls. In 1830 he is in Rhea County, Tennessee (His oldest son Turner Casey was married there in in 1822). In 1840 Abner Casey and two of his sons, Turner Casey and Johnson T. Casey appear on the Johnson County, Arkansas census. Abner died in 1869 in Newton County, Arkansas and is buried in the Buffalo cemetery. This Abner Casey was never in Kentucky.
