The name "William" was not any part of his name, first or middle, contrary to what Find a Grave and many family trees see. All of the reliable primary sources list his name simply as "Tidence Lane," to include the Family Record in the handwriting of his father, Aquilla Lane, the will of his father, and his own grave marker.
