The profile for Lt. William Sheffield MP states he was born 1700 in Kingston, RI, United States.
The profile for his son John "Jack" Shuffel Sheffield states he was born December 13, 1718 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.

It seems wrong to me that the father was born in Rhode Island and the son in England.

John was not born in RI, Mass, or England. His father William of Northampton was likely from Nottaway, VA, or from some other Virginia family. There are NO Joseph’s, Ichabod’s, Edmund’s, or Robert’s in the naming patterns for this family. This family named their son’s after their fathers and brothers and continued doing this into GA and TX.

That's an old post, but is she correct that John "Jack" Shuffel Sheffield is not the son of William born in Rhode Island?
