Managers of “Mary McKee”,
I am contacting you about this profile: “Mary McKee”
Hello everyone! First thank you one and all.
I link to her as the system reports - but not as a blood relative.
But I am wondering if new data may suggest that there is an additional link???
I am a 4th Great Grand Daughter of David McKee [[David McKee David McKee] and Martha (Dunlap) McKee.
I plug into McKee documentation in this way:
III. The Mckee Family History of Noble County, Ohio - by Beth Kolowski, Xlibris Corporation, Jun 28, 2013
A. Page 91 mentions Ira Poling at a McKee family reunion along with his second wife and sister. Ira Poling was my Great Grandfather.
B. Page 222 lists Ira’s children as “Otto”. (Martin) Otto Poling is actually the son of Ira’s brother Ezra. Ezra Poling married Mamie A. Boyd on Oct 19, 1909 in Noble co., Ohio.
Ira's son was Emmett Eugene Poling. Emmett was my Grandfather.
Sadly, Beth is no longer with us. In her book, she states that this David McKee was born in County Down, Ireland and emigrated from Donothy Dee (Donaghadee) to Lycoming County, Pennsylvania by possibly becoming an indentured servant. There is no hard proof because two David McKee men are found in the Pa. area.
My David McKee then married Martha Dunlap (born in 1764) in 1788 - also in Lycoming County. That is all that is known of him until 1788. Multiple names like Dunlap, Boyd and McKee run through her book and track in family trees.
However - My line was missing in the book. I have listed the two points above that were missed. I have documentation to support my statements of lineage to this line.
But here is my confusion. 1. No known parents of David. 2. Which David McKee is documented in Pa. and 3) I just recently had my dna done on another service (3/2023). A complete and total surprise was - although very small, enough dna is present to state there are trace amounts of "Indigenous American" introduced somewhere between 6 and 8 generations ago. My David McKee is my 4th GG born in 1764.
There are only two possibilities that I can consider at this time. My Mother's families have been on the shores of USA since 1636 and everyone is accounted for in the majority of my direct lines. Gaps are in the The "McKee" line and upon reading this profile I wonder if a blood connection to her seems more plausible??
Any information or help is welcomed! Wishing everyone the very best!
Sincerely,
Helen Carol Eakins
