Wow! The Big Y Dna on the Rickett(s) line continues to do what it was intended to do, namely clarify our ancestors. As more people with the surname Rickett take the latest Big Y DNA, further clarity comes to light. Thus, it now appears that Thomas Ricketts, the Immigrant from England, was not the son of Charles and Cicely Bennett Rickett. Henry-Campbell Ricketts of England who manages several Rickett forums, has recently explained this finding, and I kindly refer you to the Wiki-Tree on Thomas Rickett, the Immigrant of which I manage. Henry Campbell Ricketts, with my permission, has edited my entry to reveal the latest DNA. And of course, there remains a genetic tie to Charles and Cicely Bennett Rickett.

Thomas Ricketts was probably born around 1655. It had been thought that he was the son of Charles Ricketts and Cicely (Bennett) Ricketts of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, but extensive Y-DNA testing has ruled this possibility out. This same DNA evidence suggests that Worcestershire is a more likely place of birth. The following are candidates for this Thomas, but they have not as yet been researched:

Thomas Ricketts, baptised 30th Apr 1655, Hanwell, Oxfordshire. Father William Ricketts

Thomas Rickets, baptised 1653, Oxfordshire
Thomas Rickets, baptised 1658, Glympton, Oxfordshire
Thomas was born in England and transported to Maryland by William Burgess in or before 1677 ….
