I believe the entry above showing Cristen Cristenasz as Marinus' father is incorrect. Here is information from an excerpt of the Brouwer Genealogy Database, with citations. It is unlikely that Cristen traveled from Rensselaerswyck to New Amsterdam in 1675 (about), fathered Marinus, and then traveled back to Rensselaerswyck where he died in 1676. Especially since he often recieved alms from the Reformed Church per "Scandinavian Immigrants in New York, 1630-1674...", p46-47, 50 (John O. Evjen, 1916); it is unlikely that he could affort that sort of journey.

Excerpt:

Carsten de Noorman1 b. between 1600 and 1620, d. 1676

Carsten de Noorman was probably born between 1600 and 1620. He died in 1676.2

Also known as Christen Christensz.3 Also known as Carsten Carstensz.3 Also known as Carsten Carstensen.4 He came to New Netherland in 1636/37 Probably on the Rensselaerswyck which sailed from Texel, October 8, 1636, and arrived at New Amsterdam, March 4, 1637.3

He came from Flekkero on the Rensselaerwyck, arriving 4 March 1637.2 First entered in the accounts at Rensselaerswyck under the date of April 17, 1637, hence he probably came on the Rensselaerswyck. Before 1644, he was employed as a farm laborer, sawyer, stave splitter, mill hand and roof thatcher. Afterwards he leased a garden, which in 1650 was granted to Gijsbert Cornelisz, from Weesp.3

On 14 June 1679 Claes Teunisz acknowledged that on this date he has given freedom to the children of Carsten De Noorman, who have until this date dwelt with him in the Esopus, to wit, a son of said Carsten De Noorman named Teunis Carstensz, now about eighteen and a half years old, and a daughter of said Carsten named Lysbeth Carstens, now aged about fourteen years.1
