his kinswoman, Peggy McDill, and her brothr, Thomas McDill. The young man was pursued by the "press-gang" and made his escape by slipping under a fallen tree, his pursuers being mounted had to make their way around the tree, lost time and he cast himself into the sea. His subsequent history
belongs to the McDill family who have preserved their traditions, and it is a well known name in the history of South Carolina."
