The older Francis Marion Sumner was born in 1831. His father is Richard Sumner and his mother is Rhoda Biggerstaff.

He was murdered in a bar in Jonesboro in1862. He was married to Eliza M. Flaugh. She had died the year before Francis was killed.

The younger of these first cousins was born in 1837 to William Riley Sumner and Margaret Zimmerman. He is buried at Walker Hill Cemetery but the date on the tombstone for his birth year is wrong. It is showing the birth year of the older Sumner cousin.
