My brother is intelligent, an Investment Banker, and was a VP... very successful, and just retired, but sometimes.... my sister has a Ph.D. and she doesn't quite understand how ancestry works.

Well... thought everyone could enjoy a break... and a laugh..

sister-in-law's paternal 2nd FF William Middleton b 1803 England - who came to America about 1847... only have birth records for the children from Hertfordshire, England- and a marriage record for his wife... no William Middleton born around 1803 in or around Hertfordshire. Then of course there are pages and pages of Wm Middlestons from all over England... Several different Wm Middleton's came to America about the same time.

I asked my brother, do you know William's mother and father's name and what region they lived in? He said no- ,

but this Middleton family is from Chirk Castle, (the Myddelton family Family of Chirk Castle)

HaHa -- I laughed and said how can I get from the 17th century to the 13th century with a paper trail if we can get past 1803? Oh my... Can't prove lineage, and William and his family are not on a list for the Myddelton family of Chirk Castle. lol 😂 Just cause they say so. A simile "I go to the bank and tell the bank manager I have 5.5 million dollars, please transfer it today and the bank manager says please provide identification and proof of funds, apologies, Ms. Martin, I don't see it. I say it's most certainly there because, I said so and my grandma said so and family said so." haha Moral of this is Ancestry is the same, we must have documentation... Yes, the Middle saga happened today.
