Nikkiset muuttivat Kelttoon 1978 Jaakkimasta, Metsämiklistä Juoksulan kylään, jossa harjoittivat maanviljelystä. 1930 perhe muutti Viipuriin, mutta joku veljeksistä jäi Kelttoon, kun ei saanut Suomen passia.

I am investigating my husband’s Finnish-Swedish lineage. as being not a native speaker myself i have a crazy thought, could my husband’s family name Kukka be some kind of distortion of pronunciation and writing down of Huhka in older times ? Anna daughter of Vilior Kukka There was big name change campaign in years 1906 and 1935-36 when Finnish people translated their swedish names to Finnish. One possible answer Huhka ->Kukka might find in there. Or they wanted to cut links to finding them after moving to Finland and were running away from Stalins hunts.

Thank you for sharing the facts about names change in 1906, 1935-1936 I knew only about this happening in the previous century. As for Stalins run - this is not our case. If any change in our case happened at all then it could be much much earlier, even in church notes of 19 cent they are Kukka. Interesting enough the family name Kukka is much more common in Latin Amerika than in Finland

BTW Huuhka->Huhka->Kukka?
