I am working profiles of the Martin family on WikiTree and I am having trouble with this coupling. It appears that R. Random Hardy, in keeping his last name, was not adopted into this family, and so is not a son of Amos. At Find a Grave, only one wife is listed, Rebecca Fall Martin, who died in 1911. When I checked for the son Random Hardy, there were no parents listed, but I found "Embley Jane Elizabeth Hardy Hughes" buried beside her husband "John S. Hughes" who died a few years later. The grave was in the same town, though not in the same cemetery. This makes sense.
Since Amos' wife died in 1911, the woman sitting with him in his old age could be Emily. That would mean, Embley and Emily are different people. Embley is pictured with her husband John, and does not appear to be the same person, but the picture is of a younger woman. With no children listed for Amos it is a bit of a mystery. Random was about 20 when Amos Martin lost his first wife. This Embley was apparently born a Hardy, so that points to another Emily Hardy. I am perplexed.
I have rambled, for which I am sorry. Could you help me with this? @Thomas Hughes Martin
