Hoop dat iemand 'n steeds onbeantwoorde vraag kan antwoord asb.
Ek het al baie studies gedoen oor die NEL wapen en wat elke simbool beteken - alles maar op grond van my eie bevinding aangesien ek nêrens 'n prominente beskrywing kon vind nie. Ek kon wel uitvind dat die 1 crest (Mooi duidelike een met die groot silver ster bo-op) in 1940 gerigestreer is, ek verwys egter na die een waarmee Guillaume in SA aangekom het, of in ander woorde - die eerste weergawe met die blou/rooi skild, 3 silver sterre en noble bird. Waar, en wanneer presies het hierdie weergawe ingebruik gekom? ....want die oorsese/Europese weergawe wat al so vroeg as die 12de eeu af kom lyk heeltemal anders!

Not a well known fact... Coats of arms are inherited in the male line and so are surnames. But a coat of arms is granted or confirmed to one person and their descendants in the legitimate male line so only that family group will be entitled to the coat of arms, not everybody of that surname.

For this reason, you may find different coats of arms for the same surname.

I would say your best bet to get the real thing would be to contact the archives in France.
