vii. Thomas, bapt. Jan. 19, 1618/9." [There was an earlier child named Thomas bapt. Oct. 23, 1608
who died and was buried Jan. 19, 1618/9].
p62; "Thomas4 Tilden (Nathaniel3) was baptized at Tenterden January 19,1618/9, and was sixteen
years old when he came to New England with his parents. He married by 1654 Elizabeth (Bourne) Waterman,
daughter of Thomas Bourne and widow of Robert Waterman of Scituate, who was buried at
Marshfield December 12, 1663. His second wife, married at Marshfield January 24, 1664 (5), was Mary Holmes,
who survived him. He died in 1705.
Thomas Tilden's name appears on the list of Scituate men able to bear arms in 1643.
Before his rather late first marriage he probably lived with his mother and step-father, but,
when the widow Waterman was settling her husband's estate, she sold his marshfield homestead
to Thomas Tilden to obtain money to satisfy the creditors and, marrying the purchaser, continued
in possission by this neat arrangement. Source: Mayflower Descendant, XI: 103.
