Artist - Sarah Sax worked as an artist and designer at The Rookwood Pottery Company in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1896 to 1931. She was a master of many of the Rookwood glaze lines, and is particularly well known for her use of the French Red line. Motifs included scenic nature, floral and peacock feather designs. She was distinguished in the Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the Arts and Crafts Movements. Examples of her work can be found in museums including the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago. Newspaper obituaries indicate that she was cremated on Sunday, Sept 11, 1949 following services held at the Weil Funeral Home.
