One of the daughters of Bryant Thornhill married ---- Withers, and a son of this marriage was Robert Enoch Withers,
Lt. Governor of Virginia in 1873; U. S. Senator from Va., 1875
to 1881; U. S. Consul to Hong Kong, China, 1885 to 1889. Died
Sept. 21, 1907. Buried in vVytheville, Va.
A daughter of this marriage (Sister of Senator Withers), married John Thornhill, son of Elijah Thornhill, and lived in New
Orleans. She was first cousin of her husband. Her name was
Bettie Withers.
Another daughter, sister of Senator Withers and Bettie
Withers Thornhill, whose name ,vas 1\1:ary Josephine vVithers,
married James Owen of Galveston. Their children were Horace
Withers Owen, Han7 Owen, John Thornhill Owen and Bettie
