John was not the son of Daniel McFarland and (either Margaret Jacques or Elinor)...this is an independent line...however autosomal DNA testing bya female in this line has indeed verified that there is a DNA link to Daniel...but the exact relationship remains unclear that John was from Ardstraw or Strabane is certain as the Rev MacGregor loaned the family money for the passage ... see Charles K Bolton, page 186-187, "Scotch Irish Pioneers in Ulster and America"
