Sandi Compton Mayo Writes:
Managers of John Compton, I,
I am contacting you about this profile: John Compton, I
I am wondering about the RZ- haplogroup results attached to this line of John Compton II of MD b. 1756, d. 1828 Tazewell, VA and his wife Eleanor/Elinor Jane McGuire. I descend directly through their son Hiram Compton b.1800 VA; d. 1874 Lawrence Co., KY, through his son Layne Compton b. 1823/24 VA; d. 1895 KY (m. 2nd Mary McDowell) through their son Wilson Perry Compton Sr., b. 1851 KY, d. 1930 Lawrence, KY (m. Louanna Wolfe) through their son Willie Perry Compton, Jr b. 1886 KY; d. 1969 WV.... Willie Perry Compton Jr was my paternal grandfather, and my paternal uncle's son, who was born in the 1950's submitted a DNA test to Family Tree DNA.com to participate in the Compton/Crumpton Surname Project for which I manage his results. My male Compton first cousin matched other documented male Compton descendants from John Compton II and Eleanor McGuire with the haplogroup of I-M253.
The male Compton's descendants, out of Russell Co., VA that migrated into Pike Co., KY match a different haplogroup of R-M269, being documented descendant's of Thomas Compton b. abt. 1775 SC, and his parent's are James Compton Revolutionary Patriot and his wife Frances Herndon. Google Search Brett Compton's Early Comptons of Virginia. Brett shows every line and documentation on his website. He tested through FTDNA, also, and matched the R-M269 haplogroup of the Thomas Compton line.
My concern is that a Ryan Compton's Y-DNA results have been attached to the incorrect line of Comptons. Someone's family tree has an error within it, unless, Ryan is adopted, or a non-paternal event occurred somewhere in Ryan Compton's male line? If this Ryan Compton participated in the FTDNA Y-DNA testing, and he was a biological Compton, his haplogroup results should match one of the four different haplogroups within the FTDNA Compton/Crumpton Surname Project, and Ryan's is a different haplogroup of RZ, but his results have been attached my my Compton line that is haplogroup I-M253, so his results are showing up on my male grandfather and his brother's family tree profiles.
Please explain. I will gladly send an email to anyone showing a screenshot of the Colorized chart of the FTDNA Compton/Crumpton Surname Project Results and the different tiers of descendants of Compton males and the ancestor that they fall under (and documentation of their lineage was required).
