I can’t remember what I wrote to you now, but I am just clutching at straws. My John Downey was supposedly born about 1823 and from Dublin, but other researchers in our family have swapped and changed his details so many times, I just don’t know and I’m not happy to accept their haphazard techniques.
So he is my brick wall, I have no clues as to who he really is, how or when he came to Australia, as a convict or free? I only know about his family here, and some of that is “sketchy”
And I don’t know when he died or where he is buried exactly. I have been working on him for 20 years now, hopefully I will have a break through before I die ??
