Good Afternoon,

I am Ivan Bekker, my grandfather and father were residents of Elliot, My grandfather born at Flaauwkraal

My father was Jan Johannes Bekker and his father Johannes Jacobus Bekker, His father was Casparus Johannes Bekker, (i think from Cape Town) - i have scant other information

Anyone out there who is perhaps a relative??

Goeie dag.

Ivan send me an email anntiran@gmail.com with your info and let’s see if I have you on the family tree - have you joined our BEKKER group on Facebook

Hi Ivan jou stamboom tot by jou oupa is opdie web site”family tree”.

I Ivan we are related both in blood and in-law relationship going back 8 generations on my father's side through my grandfather, Robert Low, who married Hilda Maud Wiid in Port Elizabeth in 1902.

my 6th grandmother was Hester Bekker born 1700 died 1755. Her Father was Peter Bekker 1673-1774, father Johannes Dietrich Bekker 1645-1717 father Alexander Bekker (Becker) 1610-1688. Hester was married to Alewyn Smit.

Hi Ivan, I have no information on the Bekker family, however, please send a post to the group Waar in die Wereld (on facebook), The admins are experts at finding lost relatives and information! They will definitely help where they can and its free.

Please consider the fb group SA Genealogy which is filled with knowledgeable people as well as if you go through the files there you find exactly where to begin searching especially using Family Search where all the documents are free

Hy was my pa se neef gewees.
Begin by jou self en werk terug.

Hi Ivan, there is a Bekker family living in the Klein Karoo - the son is now the owner of our old farm (mother was a Schoeman whose family moved there in the late 1800's). We used to call our farm Rooi Rivier, but the closest railway station is now called Barandas. Regards Ivan Vos

Dont what is wrong the geni response, it came back to me: no-reply? So I tried this out. I hope it work!

Hi Ivan, welcome to my crazy daisy family! My parents are Lawrence Patrick Muller and Marline Loretta Botha. Paternal grandparents are Lawrence Rudolph Muller and Janet Isabella Wood. They adopted my father. Maternal grandparents are Petrus Louis Generaal Botha and Martha Lilian Kleinhans.

In Nov 2022 my Mom and did a DNA test to try and find out who my Dad's biological parents are. I have come so far but no cigar, 2 x 2nd cousins for my Dad's side. One day. Then I tried my Mom's side of the family. What a gedoente! The Botha side of family I've got until Maria Kickers and Friedrich Botha, only to find out that Maria was married to Jans Cornelisz, had an affair with Ferdinandus Appel and Frederick Botha. She divorced Jan's and married Frederick Botha and had children by him. Her oldest son Theunis Botha is an Appel! I know! They had adopted Theunis Botha.

So where are you in zoo? My Dad's side or my Mom's side? I'm farely new at this DNA game but just interesting! Sometimes it's frustrating but a lot of joy. Where are you trying to draw your family tree? I've tried Ancestry.com but after awhile you have to pay them. I do it under FamilySearch.org and it's for free. I also got on Facebook, South African Genealogy and Using DNA for Genealogy - South Africa. It's helps me find out a lot of family things, some good and some not. Some family will ignore you but what the heck!

Welcome to my crazy world! Love Lillian xxx

Dear Lilian Muller, I am seeking info on the Botha family - George Frederick Botha who was married to Cornelia Dorethea Barnado (Poppie) - they had two sons Petrus Hermanus Botha and Louis Botha. Louis was given up for a adoption and is seeking his brother Petrus who I believe lives in PE. But i am unable to get hold of him.

Poppie was well known in PE and drove a red Tornice car.

Thanks to Wilene Clair Venter, who I've discovered is my 7th cousin, :) I looked up the Oosthuizen's on Family Search and finally managed to get back beyond my great grandfather all the way to the Netherlands in 1552.

Always interesting to go back so far. Having paths to Johannes Oosthuizen and to Charles Marais one is likey to be related to everyone of Dutch or Huguenot descent. I've got lots of Bothas, Pienaars and even Janse van Rensburgs (our common relative is "Groot Catrijn" who has a very interesting history!

Good luck Ivan

Good morning all and hope everyone is well. I see my family runs in the Bekker family as well. I saw now that Stephen Bekker from New Zealand is my 3rd cousin and would like to know more about the Bekker family. I am currently living in South Africa
