Clemmant Carlton Roby Howard - Does anyone know where he went off too?

Hi,
This is my granddad; my dad was Carlton E Howard. he last saw his dad in 1957 when he walk away from the family on what used to be Panther fork/Waterloo rd. / French Creek. There have been many tales on where he went but nothing concrete. My Aunt Barbara Howard/Latham/? not sure who, lives in Ohio has unknown info that she is not sharing. Ancestry keeps directing me to John Roby/Robey as his great grand dad, but not sure if that is correct. My great grandmother was a Cogar. On my Great grandmother side the family is Lona/Lora "eddy" Blake /Riffle. I would really appreciate any help
