Henry had a brother Joseph. Joseph was also a Mariner and Master of the 'Commodore Decatur' in 1835. My understanding is that Henry and Joseph were both on the Julian in New Zealand waters. The US records have an 1835 naturalisation certificatefor Joseph, though this is not likely the date of his naturalisation. The certificate gives a birth date of 1805 in Hamburg, Germany. There is no such record for Henry. Joseph had married in New Bedford in 1832. There is oral history that Joseph ran up debts and this was let to Henry changing his name to Pratt to disassociate himeslef from his brother. Pratt became changed to Parata by his sone Tame. Henry remains an enigma. There is reference to a Henrick Trapp in the US Whaling Records as Crew on the Commodore Rogers on a whaling voyage to the Pacific 1825-28. Age 25, Height 5' 9", Hair: Light brown, Skin: Fair. Nationality: Prussian.
