I found the profile for the Nancy Ward who was married to James G. Cowart:

They're showing as sisters. So now the question is whether the parents named two daughters Nancy, whether one daughter named Nancy had two husbands and needs merging or whether one of the Nancy's incorrectly connected.

I'm leaning toward thinking two same-name women have gotten confused and one is incorrectly connected. My cousin's tree has the Nancy who married the Cowart husband connected to the parents Tarlton Solomon Ward, Sr. and Sarah (Salley) Ann Ward (Childress) and that's as much as I know about these folks.

The two women don't appear to be the same Nancy, even though both were born in Mississippi. Their dates of brith and death are different and they didn't die in the same states. The descendants in my cousin's tree stayed in Mississippi for at least another generation.

I previously had a question for this discussion regarding Minta Ishtanaha / Burl Perry Hoya who has two mothers connected, but I've resolved that using a DNA match's tree on Ancestry and my own tree. Since the cousin match and I share Native DNA and the only way I connect to Minta Ishtanaha / Burl Perry Hoya is if he has a Vann descendant, so that resolves who his mother was in my mind, for what that's worth.
