I’m trying to find more information about the Fächer (also spelled Fecher, Faecher, and Feker) family that lived in Dembitz in the early 1800s. Some of the family went to Hungary/Slovakia. Supposedly there were 3 orphaned boys in the family who were adopted by gentiles (German, Polish, and Hungarian). I assume they were siblings who were split up. It seems strange that they would be adopted by people outside of their faith. Has anyone heard similar stories? Were adoptions recorded in the late 1700s/early 1800s?
