Champ was kidnapped by Indians and watched his mother scalped and killed by said Indians. He lived in captivity for abt. 10+ years and was spared death or being sold off to other tribes due to an Indian Squaw that recently lost her child and wanted to keep him and raise. Champ never forgot how kindly he was treated by her and her tribe. He was later rescued by an officer whose last name was McGhee and this name has been passed down generations to the male descendants in our family.
