The John Elzey who m. Prudence was probably b. @1740, instead of 1720. I do not believe that he was the son of the prominent Lewis Elzey. He is not mentioned in Lewis's will, nor are there any property transfers between the 2 men. My current thinking is that John was probably the son of an earlier John Elzey, and grandchild of Thomas & Jane (Thomazin?) Elzey of early Stafford Co., VA. It has been suggested that Ths. spent time in MD before being located in Stafford Co. Ths. did not mention a John in his will, but he did say that he had young children; John may have been his youngest. At any rate, Jane Elzey Gregg named her son, John Elzey, as one of the exrs. of her will. This John was supposed to be m. to a Bridget, but I have seen no proof. Is anyone interested in sharing info on these individuals? I am wondering if my Rev. War vet, Wm. Elzey b. @1760 & enlisted from Fairfax Co., may have been a brother to Letitia, or a cousin. Lewis's son, Wm., is accounted for & is not my Wm., who later went to TN. Nancy Edmondson Wood
