PETER פנחס HOFFMAN - Marriage or partnership?

Over many, many years I have entered my relatives' names on Geni.
Historically my ancestors were religious and observant and married according to their tradition.
I added their names as spouses of another member.
Now I find that someone or some curator has changed their status to partner.
This has quite irked me, and has caused me consider why GENI has allowed
such unwarranted moral interference in my family records.
