Montgomery Cemetery is about 5 miles out of Hillsboro, Illinois on the North Road.
This cemetery is on Osborn land.
The Hillsboro Library has a book called "Montogomery County Past and Present". This book has the story about Levi Osborn and His wife Mary Evelyn Combest. They also have full pictures of his son James Riley Osborn and Margaret L. Eppes.
Buried in the cemetery are:
Levi Osborn and his wife Mary Evelyn Combest
James Riley Osborn and his wife Margaret L. Eppes
James Maurice Osborn and wife Ann Abt
Margaret Ann Osborn daughter of James Maurice Osborn and Ann Abt
James Robert Osborn the grandson of James Maurice Osborn and Ann Abt, the son of James Maurice Osborn Jr.
his father decided to add the "e" back on his last name and his son's name even though it is not on either birth certificate!
Verna McBride Osborn and her husband are also buried there.
I believe that David Osborn is also buried there.
The second son of James Osborn and Ann Abt is buried at the Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis, Illinois. This would be Robert Eugene Osborn b. June 10, 1948. He was married to Nancy Slaughter. Robert died of a motorcycle accident in Arkansas while on a trip to get his scuba diving instructor's license. Robert served in the Vietnam War.
Teenagers have gone into the Montgomery cemetery and did some damage to the tombstones. One of them was the stone of Levi Osborn.
I firmly believe they should serve a jail term of not less than 2 years for destroying cemeteries!
