John Ostlund (1883-1960) grew up in Järpen and later homesteaded in Gheen MN. On a visit to his hometown in 1908-1909, he notes that “A. J. Lalander” had been one of his teachers in school, and at the time of his visit in Järpen, Lalander was Chief Templar in IOGT lodge, Hjerpe Skans No. 813, IOGT.
