For anyone wondering if Jarmin was actually Catawba or not. Jarmin is my direct line and I can tell you my grandfather grew up on and off the reservation. The family of Toad Harris took my grandfather in and we were known to be first cousins. Grandpa grew up with and was very close to Blanche Bryson. Blanche had a son named Stanley who was murdered by a corrupt Pineville police officer and left for dead in the road in front of blanches house. My uncle who died a few years back killed the police officer's son with a sawed-off shotgun as blood revenge. The Harris family is kin not through King Haigler directly but through his father King Prowl. King Haigler was originally buried at the corner of highway 521 and old Charlotte Highway. Very few if any members of the tribe know this now days. If your still wondering if this is true Blanche used to live in the corner house on Cemetary street. Down from her home there was a natural spring that bubbles up directly from the ground and is considered to be quite sacred. My ancestor is Hazel Chandler who died during child birth. It was considered not safe for anyone to know we were direct descendants of King Haigler so the story should go the entire tribe are descendants from him although it is said he left no known heirs it is and was for their protection. I am not an enrolled Catawba but we have always lived relatively close to the tribe. I remember hearing a story about another cousin, perhaps it was Blanches brother who had lost a leg? Im just mentioning this for the enrolled readers so they know we are still here and still family. If you want DNA proof I can tell you people who are enrolled like Bobbie Wheeler and Dwaine Harris who have no clue we exist but we can see them plain as day through DNA. To my knowledge I am the only and last living descendant from King Haigler who did not move out west. It just sucks we cant enroll because grandpa wasn't invited to the dinner party back in 1999 when the discussion of reforming the tribe happened because he was well in to his death bed after suffering a stroke.
