Not the child of John Creek Moore
"A thorough search in all available records in the archives of the Virginia State Library at Richmond failed to produce any sign of a will made by EDWARD CHAMPION, JUNIOR, and it was a fortunate turn of events when our research worker there discovered "in a round about way... what seemed a whole family" of Champions in Isle of Wight deeds and wills. Her discovery was the will of Thomas Moore dated September 28, 1696 in Deed and Will Book II, page 371. In it we found Edward Champion, now referred to as Edward Champion, Senior, and the names of his children as well as the identification of his wife as Priscilla Moore. Because of its importance historically we are entering the will here in its entirety."
This Thomas Moore

George Moore (ca 1634 – 1714) |his parents/ & Jane Barcroft (ca 1641 – ), daughter of Charles Barcroft (ca 1610 – 1666) & Maudlin [relict] of Isle of Wight County, Virginia. George Moore married Jane, daughter of Charles Barcroft. This George Moore was the brother of Thomas Moore 1643 – 1696 married ca 1665 Elizabeth [widow of Samuel Eldridge]. They probably also had a sister. From Dr. Barry Hayes. “The circumstantial evidence is strong that Mrs. Priscilla Champion was…. a sister of the proved brothers a.Thomas Moore and b. George Moore…… e. –?– Moore and his wife Mrs. Anne Rogers Moore Baron Matthews Davis, whose only Moore son was yet another John Moore, f. Elizabeth Moore who married 1st Thomas Barlow and 2nd William Baldwin, and g. Katherine Moore who married 1st unknown and 2nd Robert Flake.”
Erica Howton thank you for the spin off discussion-- I likely would have missed it or seen the disconnection much later.
She is direct for me and the DNA suggests they are the same Moore family but I have so many CLOSE DNA matches (meaning show up at the commercial companioes and on Gedmatch with NO lowering of cM or other threshholds) in the are of Boykin and Whitehead and Champion with Fort, etc, that I suspect we are still looking to fill in fairly large areas of the tree.
Thank you, Debbie Gambrell for bringing attention
Thank you, Erica Howton for adding the sources and working to fix the issue(s) with George Moore, of Isle of Wight which led here
