Hi Stephen, do you have a source? I can't immediately find one.
To my shame I seem to have locked the DOB and place but no evidence why.
This is the data currently:
Aside from the lack of evidence a concern that I have is the baptism date/location. Sept 25 1639 is the date of the earliest existent baptism record from NA, there is only one record for that date and it beyond a shadow of a doubt belongs to Neeltje Jacobse van Couwenhoven not a boy named Jacob.
The idea that he is born in Wiltwyck prompted me to check the Kingston baptism records but they only stretch back to 1670. I am not sure when the church at Kingston was founded but Wiltwyck itself wasn't chartered until 1661, prior to that my understanding the area was known as The Esopus.
There might be a way to puzzle out the truth but at this point the best I can say is he was born c1639 in New Netherland colony.
1719-80=1639 so that works okay. Assuming the story is true, the death date is accurate and that Jacob actually knew his own age. A family bible would potentially back all this up,
For now I've set DOB = 1639, location = New Netherland colony and removed the baptism entirely.
Easy enough to put back if/when evidence surfaces.
