The question is about who the mother was for Elizabeth born in 1776. There is a good chance that Elizabeth's mother was a Cherokee woman. Elizabeth Phipps married Joel Hold in NC about 1786 and at least one of their daughters was said to have the native name of "Morning Dawn" This was , Rachel (Morning Dawn-Doctor Lady) Holt born c1800 in NC and married to George R. Buckalew, Jr. She and her siblings would then have been 1/4 blood Native-American.
