The big archive site mostly have a language choice for English.

Thanks Job Waterreus - quite impressive!

:-) Can you update Johan?

Thanks, Job Waterreus, dis goeie raad! Sharon: Will do

Thanks Johan.

and Job :-)

I think I'll have to disappoint Dr Johan Casper Morgenthal about his find.
Many transcripts of these old Dutch baptism books make a consistant error of assuming that the patronym of the father (in this case Martens) is his surname. It is mostly later in time that some of this patronyms become 'solidified' as surnames.
So in the case of Johanna Martens, you probably will have to find a father "Maarten"/"Maerten"/"Marten", because again her second name is most likely a patronym and not a surname (eventhough it may (or may not) have become her surname in South Africa).
Also, please, be aware that Dutch women never and still don't take the husband's name officially but are always registered under their maiden name (I have just changed this for Isabella Catharina Degees; the unlikely grandmother of Johanna of whom I only recently became the manager - I'm happy to hand her over to some on more knowledgeable).
I hope this is helpful, because I see there is a high interest in this profile.

Disconnecting Joannes Anthonius Maartens and Elisabetha Maartens as the parents of Johanna 'Jannetjie' Maartens, SM/PROG pending the provision of primary sources.

To add a little to what mentioned above, see https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/601867-new-...

Many thanks.

Thanks Sharon Doubell !
That makes clear that there is a research question here. Does anybody know what is mentioned in the marriage book about her marriage? Where is she from? I have seen at least 3 options:
1. Grijpskerke, Zeeland, NL
2. Grijpskerk, Groningen, NL
3. Hooge en Lage Mierde, Noord-Brabant, NL
If we can clarify her birth place then we can start searching in the baptism records (which I'm happy to help with).
