This Richard Henry Scruggs II has a brother named Henry Scruggs Jr.
Richard Henry wouldn't be a II if the father was only named Henry, so it makes sense that Henry Scruggs Jr. is the actual name of that namesake of the father;
Perhaps this Richard Henry was actually just named Richard or perhaps his parents gave him the Henry middle name to make sure it got carried on, but he wouldn't be Jr. unless his and his father's name were identical.
Any additional documentation to clarify the name might be helpful. In any case, thanks in advance for any assistance to clarify the names.

Unfortunately, Family Search is just another tree site and not documentation. I find lots of errors on that site and most of what I see on there is undocumented. Is there a will, birth or death certificate, marriage license, that sort of thing showing his legal name? Thanks.
I'm just putting him as Richard in my tree and the other brother as Henry Jr.
