Claudius' birth was recorded on the same page as one of my relatives so thought I would give you the details as he's
a St Valentine's day bairn

Date of Birth
14 February 1874

Father: Elliott Moore Receiver and Pay Master. Born Dublin Ireland. Age 32 years

Married 13 September 1871 to

Mother: Emily (formerly Williams) 22 years, of Hobart Town, Tasmania

Mrs Clark had been the nurse

Birth was notified to the Registrar on 3rd August 1874

Seems that Claudius had changed his name to George de la Poer Beresford CAIRNES under which he married in 1913 to Sophie Millicent Rose LEE.

(His name appears as George in the death notice for father, Elliott, who died 1 January 1918)

CAIRNES. — On September 1 (suddenly), at 9
Dendy-street, Middle Brighton, George de la
Poer Beresford, loved husband of Millicent
Rose Cairnes, and loving father of Millicent,
Alan, Beryl and Dorothy May (deceased).
Privately interred on September 2.

Thanks for that information Anita. There is a record of George being born in 1887 so I don't think there was a name change I believe they were brothers.

The mystery is when did Claudius die, his uncle had the same name and died in NSW in 1910 but I can't find a death record for this one.
