@james l Rainey. A lot of My Heritage Family Histories include David D. Rainey of Orange, NC. Many of these (MHFH} have different facts listed for him and his family. As there are very few prime sources from the early American period, confusion reigns.

David D. was Born in Orange in the British Royal Colony of North Carolina in either 1735 or 1753, (or in close approximation to either year). He was a landowner in the area of Orange, which could be in any of the surrounding counties, as Orange was frequently partitioned into various new counties. He was married, possibly more than one spouse.

FACT:
David D. Sighed his Last Will and Testament on June 7, 1800, so he was alive (presumably) at that point, and his will “proven” in County Court in Hillsboroough, NC court in August 1802 The Will is in the NC historical archives. It names his wife “Jiney” 5 daughters and 3 sons as heirs.

I have been unsuccessful at finding a maiden name for “Jiney”. As there was no requirement for birth or marriage certificates in those early years, they presumably do not exist. I have not found any church records, either. If anyone has facts, primary, or even secondary sources, please contact me at: Rainey.va@gmail.com
