I'm wondering if this William Webb, (possibly b. around 1789) could be the father of Isaiah Thomas Webb b. Jan. 13,1815 in Bedford Co, TN... He would be my 5th G Grandfather...

I tried to look it up for you. You don't have a tree built in Geni to be able to look at surrounding relatives. There are many many William Webbs and Isaiah Webb's in the Tennessee/Kentucky and Virginia areas,

Can you provide additional information?

I'm looking for William Julius Webb (father of Isaiah Thomas Webb) b. abt. 1789.. He married Esther (Hall ?) Webb who was a full-blood Cherokee... They moved into Gibson Co., TN in 1819 when Isaiah was 4 yrs old.. Isaiah Thomas Webb was born in Beford CO., TN Jan 13, 1815.. Isaiah married Mary Moore and they had the following children:
Vandalia Webb(m. Tom Smittle); Sarena Webb(m. John Kindrick); Parthenia Webb(m. Ben Smith); William Julius Webb, Jr.b. 1843(m. Elizabeth Jane Davis); Emisiah Weddington Webb(which is my lineage), b. Oct. 13, 1848(m.Martha Louisa Cantrell); Albert Jefferson Webb; Isaiah Glover Webb(m. Sarah Francis Davis); Rachel Marilla Webb, b. Mar. 3,1860(m. John Thomas Hoskins;then, Jim Lawson); Lucrica Artela Webb b. Nov. 6, 1844(m. John Bramhall); Mary Jane Webb(m. Wilson Bohannon); Roxanne Webb(m. Will Moore; then, Gabriel Davis)..

William Julius Webb, Sr. also had a son Jermiah who stayed in Tennessee...

Isaiah and his family moved from Tennessee about 1853.. Their journey ended in 1866 in Wright County, Missouri..They are buried near Grovesprings, Mo....I was raised in Lebanon,Mo approximately 10 miles North..I have visited many of their grave sites..

William Julius Webb is definitely Isaiah's father. Read below, that is not even a doubt or question, the question is who is William Julius Webb's father and mother....

I found Isaiah Thomas Webb much of this information you already know, he was married twice.

FIRST and most importantly: as Familysearch seems to be a bit unreliable more and more if you look at William Julius Webb's profile and the profile of his father there are a lot of discrepancies.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KNQV-GQ4

William Julius Webb along with his 4 siblings were born in Wales. If father, while not odd, was born in England. The problem is he is married to Jemima Bird and a Susannah Unknown at the same time and has children in both Wales and in England. Jemima died in 1810

I do not believe the correct father's or mother's are attached.

In reading the history, (I obviously have never been to the cemetery), where Isaiah is buried there are 5 headstones together. One is not legible and supposedly might belong to William Julius Webb, the father who moved to Missouri after burying his wife Ester.

Know that I am fully aware that you possibly already know any or all of the information I am adding here. I apologize if it is nothing new.

As far as William Julius Webb - He apparently or supposedly went by the name "Julius" more so than William
He married Esther C. Hall on 12/24/1810

I am sure you are aware of the story of the Five brothers that came to America from Wales on a "BIG BOAT". One served as an aide-de-camp to George Washington. That would be Samuel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Blachley_Webb

NOTE: The term "Big Boat" is also the name used at times to mean the Mayflower

Brother 2, William Julius Webb I, went from Virginia to Tennessee, Indian Territory, where he married a full-blooded Cherokee Indian maid named Ester.

William owned and operated a large plantation. He had several slaves which Isaiah Thomas (a son) did not approve of, so Isaiah left home. Later, Ester died and was buried in a little cemetery on the Reelfoot Lake."

This came from the Mayflower site:

Peter Webb b. 12/1/1657 Braintree, Norfolk, MA d. 2/12/1716/17 Salem, Essex, MA married Ruth Bass

Christopher Webb b. 3/25/1663 d. March 1689/90 m. Mary Bass 5/24/1686 in Braintree, Norfolk, MA. and died at sea off Nantasket.(Ruth Bass was her sister and their mother was Ruth Alden and her grandparents were John Alden and Priscilla of the Wadsworth poem.)

William T. Webb married Elenora Bramhall b. 7/24/1859 (had 5 children in Roseville, Ill.

Samuel Webb b. 1660-80 married Hannah Ripley b. 3/2/1684/85. Her Great Grandfather was William Bradford.

I also found this:
POSSIBLE ANCESTORS AND DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM JULIUS WEBB

Joseph Webb, and his wife, Mehitabel Nott
James Webb b. 1/27/1744 - d. 1767 or 1787 - Windham M.E. & son Josiah Webb b.5/12/1765 d. 9/8/1849
OR Samuel Blatchley, a descendant of Richard Webb, Dorsetshire, England & came to Cambridge, Mass 1626.

Father Webb (Samuel Blachley Webb or another William JuliusWebb) and his four brothers came over on the "Big Boat" from Wales. Wife was possible Anna Givens and one of their sons, William Julius Webb, born in Rutherford or Bedford County Tennessee February 5or15, 1791 married a Cherokee Indian (Princess) maid Esther Hall b. 1793 (raised by missionaries?). Her father may have been Cherokee Chief Braton/Bratton.

Two known children were:
Isaiah Thomas Webb 1/13/1815 - 10/4/1889 (m. Mary Moore 6/26/1836)
Jeremiah (Jerry) Webb Abt. 1818 (m. Peggy Staford 10/31/1838 in Gibson Co.)

Melvin Webb married Claire Marie Ramsey - those are the parents of Country singer Loretta Lynn.

Sometimes following these other lines whether going down or up, you run into your answers or close to them.

This is also an interesting site. It mentions many invasions and intruders on Cherokee land but also has it wet up by last names involving both Cherokee and Soldiers or "White Man" as referred to back then.
I found a George Webb and a Larkin Webb, there may be others but it is believed that there where many more siblings than Isaiah and Jeremiah

Erica Howton you are very well versed in this area... just thought I would bring it to your attention.

I am curious about this Julius Webb and does he fit in anywhere

You’re of period for me except for direct family, I’m afraid. My research is best on Colonial America (before 1776). What comes to mind from reading this discussion so far:

  • Unlikely he’s descended from Christopher Webb, of Braintree - wrong time frame and geography; and also, I think this might be the best researched Webb Family. So he’d know if his William Julius Webb is from a Massachusetts family.
  • There are literally hundreds of Webb families! I often have better research luck through collateral lines (FAN principle).
  • There is an active y DNA project here: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/webbdna?iframe=yresults

I am looking for information regarding William Julius Webb d. aft. 1815 TN, father of Isaiah Thomas Webb b. Jan 13, 1815 in Bedford Co. TN. I am wondering if anyone has determined how William Julius Webb is connected to Jesse Owens Webb b. c1766. Could William Julius Webb descend from a brother or uncle of Jesse Webb b. c1766, or could he descend from the grandfather of Jesse Webb?. If you have information that may help, please contact me through the Webb Surname DNA Project administrator

So this is the Y DNA group called “ Jesse Webb (1766)”

Drop down to the Y-DNA67 tab - it’s such a common haplogroup, you need refined testing, as much as possible.

And what’s interesting is a match to a fellow with County Antrim origins.

Andrew Sinclair (b. 1780 Kirkinriola, Antrim Ire.) Ireland R-FGC4077

I’m presuming everyone was Protestant, so that suggest that Webb line was Anglo / Irish.

The Webb name in England was most common in the Wiltshire, England area, so you’re looking for a family that sent members to both Ireland and America in the early-mid 1700s, is my guess. Or - to Antrim, and some emigrated from there to middle Tennessee. It might even be worth looking at emigration records.

A Jesse Webb site:

"It pains me to see so much of this "stuff" spread about. With the advent of computers and the ability to post information on the internet, so much is being concocted, useing a smattering of fact with a lot of speculation, to much misinformation is being passed about.

(1) Jesse Webb did not have a middle name. Owen was a fabrication by a stone mason in what is now still living history.

(2) Jesse and John were living in the Colony of Georgia when the revolution got into full swing. John was in the army and Jesse was with him at Fort Stewart (Stuard). They came to North Carolina (now Tennessee) because they were chased out of Georgia by the British army, Indians and Tories.

(3) Jesse sold some land in Georgia as an Heir of a Thomas Webb.
There was a Thomas Webb who served as a private, then Ensign and later a colonel under Oglethorpe's Regiment in the Colonial Wars. It was the colonial wars that brought men to Georgia under Oglethorpe. It appears that this Thomas Webb may have come from Maryland as there is one listed in Capt. Beall's Co. of Prince George's Maryland earlier on. Since John and Jesse were stationed at Nails Fort, it was likely because their father was serving as an officer- not just a private. A lot of research still has to be done.

(3) The Merry Webb family from Henry County Virginia is "Well" researched and documented. Although some of the children were in what is now east tennessee, no connection with John And Jesse have been established."

One more, I have no idea as to whether this family ties into what you are looking for, do not be confused by the name "Hennessy Family" because they are all "Webb's"

This is a Webb Family Bible I just so happened to find off of one of Jeremiah's children (Mary) information, but it wasn't his daughter, Mary belongs to Josiah Webb but it dates back to 1776.

Erica Howton I just read your notes above.... My eyes are crossed from the number of mistakes.
Unless they came from Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, or a country around there, middle names would be given. Johann Peter, Peter Johann, Jean Baptiste. etc... those are confusing enough.
But this one stumped me. I did find that Isaiah and Jeremy definitely are William's children. but the rest... Over to the research group!

If you see an English middle name before say 1800, chances are good it’s a genealogy smerge or invention.

My question is really about that boatload of Anglo Irishmen from Wales. :):)
