I received notification that a rquest has been made to add the middle name John to Peter's profile. It was fairly uncommon for men to have middle names during his time period and unless there is some documentation proving he actually used a middie name, it's best to leave it as it is.
Normally if a person duirng his era actually used a middiel name, it would appear in a document like their will or some court records. Otherwise, it's generally 'assumed' that the middle name was something added to him by later generations and in pretty much all of those cases I've yet to see proof of the middle name.
All the sites I have found info on the family only show him as Peter Pearson I, such as:
https://sites.rootsweb.com/~myfriendsthelambs2/part8/other/pearson....
https://www.pennock.ws/fam/fam07771.html
Typically, it seems to start with one person adding a middle name, for whatever reason, to their personal tree and it gets copied and carried forward from there but when you try to find proof that it's valid, I've yet to find anything.
If someone has documentation other than someone's personal tree that proves he used the middle name John, please share that so we can then know he actually used a middle name.
Thanks in advance for any input / documentation.
