Hi All

I have a problem with the GISA/Geslagregisters that I am just mentioning here as I am still searching for proof (and have been for a long time now). I don't believe b1 James Conway married to Anna Booysen is a child of Andrew Conway. His death certificate mentions his deceased children and James is not one of them: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSQF-D9YM-Z?i=488&...

SAF has this entry
Andrew Conway Britse Setlaar a. in 1820 aan boord Northampton x Ann NN
b1 James Conway x Anna BOOYSEN
c1 John * 26.5.1848 ~Smithfield 26.11.1848
b2 Michael Conway * c. 1814 x c. 1837 Machel Maria COETZER
c1 Andrew Johannes * 3.2.1841 ~Albanie 28.3.1841
c2 Christina Johanna x Albanie 25.8.1867 Theunis Johannes NAUDE (Stephanus-sn)
c3 Margaret Jane * c. 1850

SAF Booysen has
Anna Booysen x c. 1846 James Conway

Not surprised at all.

Generally, I treat the GISA/Geslagregisters as mere direction indicators for proper research. Although it is an honest attempt to list decendance, but sadly inaccurate in too many places to be considered as a source.

To remember deceased children usually not on DN of parents as well.

So when did Janes Conway die 🤔

I am not able to find anything about James Conway at all. The only real reference I have of his existence is on the baptism of John (c1) in the GISA records. John changed his name to Jan Connoway along the line and Anna Booysen's death notice says that she married a Connoway, Brown and an Allen during her lifetime.

Married a Conway not Connaway.
