Emma Cuff b5 - Emma and the Cuffs

Peter Alton Cuff was one of my Phys Ed teachers at Selborne College. Emma named her son Alton. which is a name that has been in the Cuff family for several generations. Peter's father and uncles have that name too (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-CNNP-1?i=279&c... ).

Emma Mary Cuff was my husband's grandmother and was married to Samuel Johnson Daley who came from Tristan da Cunha. And he died 2 May 1924. I The family settled in Colesberg.
As you say several of the family today have Alton in their name but I don't know where it originated. One of Samuel Daley's sons was Josep Alton Daley.
