The Bowman name, at least as Johnny and Amanda spelled it, has been Bowman since the early days of their marriage. He wrote it that way (in printing not cursive) on his draft card for WWII. Social Security Death Index has it spelled with a W too. My bet would be that if it were changed it would have been during a census. Londberg was written with different spellings on a few different census documents early on. I believe it that probably happened because of a misunderstanding on the part of the interviewer. Alfred's award after his death in WWI has Londberg misspelled as well. I have postcards from Jennie, TIllie, and Minnie all to Amanda and Johnnie with Bowman being spelled with a W. Not sure if that helps or confuses it more though. Just thought I'd share. I can say with absolute certainty that Aunt Amanda married Johnny Ruben Bowman. :)
