Can anyone resolve the conflict on the father of Mate Rothschild-Bacharach (Stadthagen)?

Joseph HaLevy Goldschmidt Stadthagen

Joseph de Bonne dit Stadthagen

The Borchardt-Pincus-Peiser tree on MyHeritage has Josef Levy Stadthagen as father but there is no supporting documentation. Reading through the biography in Joseph de Bonne's 'About' section, none of his children mentioned there show up in this profile.

To the best of my knowledge, Rabbi Joseph Stadthagen never lived in Hamburg. He was born in Metz in 1640 and died in Stadthagen in 1715 (www.deutsche-biographie.de/sfz125144.html). This leaves Jobst Goldschmidt, who was known as Yosef Stadthagen in Yiddish, as the most likely candidate to be Mate's father. He lived in Hamburg. Moreover, Mate's tombstone (hha-1994) does not call her father a rabbi.

That is persuasive enough for me. I have severed the Bonn parents.

I just want to say that I thorough appreciate following the updates happening to all the Stadthagens, Goldschmidts and related families over the years. There is so much proper genelogical work going on here. The expertise of Job Jona Schellekens is admirable. Many thanks to everyone contributing! -Chris
