William Evans was born December 23, 1776, in Virginia and married to Elizabeth Combs Hammock, Wilkes County, Georgia. before 1797. He died at his home in Wilkes County, one-half mile from Kettle Creek, on October 14, 1822, and with his wife, is buried in the family cemetery across the road from his home.
Children:
1. Mary (Polly), born 1798 in Wilkes County, Georgia; married, first, "Cader" Malone (deceased 1813), second James Arden Evans (son of James Evans and Sallie Bennett)
2. Martha (Patsy), married Chenowith Peteet
3. Susan, married first, James Cunningham, second, Joseph M. Evans, (son of John C. Evans)
4. Nancy, married Daniel Lea, April, 1826
5. Amanda, married Dr. James Horn, moved to Texas
6. Elizabeth, married John Swanson, Tuskegee, Alabama. Died 1888.
7. Emily, died when 6 years old
8. William Gilbert, born May 16, 1810; moved to Morgan County, Georgia, thence to Monroe County, Mississippi. Died at Aberdeen, Mississippi 1885.
