Hi all,
Is there an automated way to download Lithuanian-Jewish Records from LitvakSIG, 1795-1940 records into Geni profiles, rather than entering them manually? I am populating profiles for Troki (shtetl) working from Yizkor list. Until now, have been doing manually. Is there a better way?
much appreciated, Gary Shub

There's a lot of duplicates in those records, plus same person with different spelling, plus also many records already exist in Geni. I think automating would create a huge mess.

No automation, neither for jewishgen.com, LivakSIG, JRI-Poland, nor Gesher-Galicia.

Don't know about the new JRI-Poland site or the other forums, but on the legacy JRI-Poland, one can check a box so that that the output of the report is such that each record is on one line - and this makes it easier to copy and paste into the "about" of the Geni profile. When doing this, don't forget to include attribution. I already discovered today that the new JRI-Poland site enables one to copy a link to ones compute clipboard so this can be included on the "about".

no clue
would love to know too
good luck

That's a fabulous idea, if someone could create an API to do it!

Geni allows you to import GEDCOM files. Maybe you could use desktop software to import your spreadsheets and export as GEDCOMs?

How does one make an API happen? Presumably requires some funding. Is it Geni that would lead or would Jewish Genealogy / Litvak SIG first need to be convinced to expose the data via API, and then Geni would have to build a way to receive it.
Is there any chance that API is already being used by Geni with respect to another data source, or would this be the first time - with no precedent?

Thank you
