Can someone explain the connection of this person profile to Bishops Stortford and Henlow?
The towns are not far apart at about 27 miles.
I note that Thomas Chandler died in 1554.
Robert Tilley, son of Agnes and William, was born in Apr 1540.
Did Thomas Chandler and Agnes divorce?

Thanks for any clarification anyone can give,
Ken

She is showing as wife of George Mumfort (not a curated profile) , Thomas Chandler, II and lastly William Tilley
In the 1500's the women profiles on Geni typically do NOT give her a married name but for women later, the last name will be that of the last husband before she died.

Which "Stortford" and "Henlow"? You may be able to use the pushpin to see if a relationship shows yet on Geni.

Hopefully someone familiar with these specific people will reply to your question.

Just a note. English women always had their husbands name, going pretty far back, long before the 1500s, unless really noble, Scots, Irish, Welsh and European women did not and still don’t, for the most part.

I’ll look at Ken’s question as it probably leads to a Colonist.

I see in the profile “research notes”

Tilley-80|

William Tilley is currently shown as married to two women named Agnes. They are different women with different dates. It appears likely that one was married only to Tilley and the other married only to Chandler. More research needed!

De Bishops-1|Agnes de Bishops (1502-1554), lived in Hertfordshire, married Thomas Chandler, had Chandler children.

Bishops-2|Agnes Bishops (1519-1582) lived in Bedfordshire. Shownto have married both Thomas Chandler and William Tilley, had Tilley Children.

This is probably from Wikitree.

Looks like Thomas Chandler married an Agnes unknown.

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/89614779/thomas-chandler has a good citation.

Son of Thomas, father of John, Thomas, Agnes (Mrs Richard Bedwell) and Robert. He was the only son or only son to outlive his father. He left considerable property in Bishop's Stortford, and married an Agnes circa 1525.

English Origins of New England Families, Vol II, p. 355:

"Thomas Chandler of Bishops-Stortford, born about 1500, died in the spring of 1554. He married, about 1525, Agnes ____, who survived him. …

I’ll undo some merges.

They are separated.

Agnes Chandler Is not the same as Agnes Tilley

Nice!
Erica Howton, I see she is down to one husband but I am seeing a "sister" Agnes Chandler also called Agnes.

Are you able to discern Private User 's question regarding the connection of this person profile to Bishops Stortford and Henlow"?

I just merged the last of the total 120 Agnes profiles.

Ken Shelley was asking how the same person can be of both Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire at more or less the same time. The answer is, they can’t.

But I wasn’t evaluating by geography the way he was. I am familiar with both the Chandler & Tilley families in New England and have been merging their dups for years. They are not connected families.

But what really did it was the Disambiguation note stuck to the Gedcom, so they’re not all bad.:)

This was very time consuming, but they’ve been wrong on Geni (and other sites) since before 2014. So better late than never.

Thank you
